When a 10-year-old girl arrived at our Village in Virginia, she had already experienced significant trauma and was struggling with severe emotional and behavioral challenges, including self-harm and violent outbursts toward her siblings.
Through trauma-informed care and consistent, compassionate support, she began to heal.
After seven months, the transformation was remarkable. When she returned to school following her discharge, she arrived clean, well-dressed, and confident. Her teachers were moved to tears by the progress they saw. She even asked to see her younger brother and greeted him with a hug.
As her case manager shared, “I never imagined this level of progress so quickly. You truly changed this child’s life.”
Stories like hers reflect our national impact how providing safety, healing, and hope can change the trajectory of a child’s life across the country.
