Connect to Protect Kids, or CTPK, is now under the Childhelp umbrella. This partnership marks a transformative moment in the fight against child abuse, making Childhelp the first national organization in the U.S. to offer aligned prevention programs for both children and adults.
“For years, prevention programs have often focused on one group or the other — either equipping children with the knowledge to stay safe or educating adults on how to recognize and prevent abuse. But we know that true prevention requires a community-wide approach, “says Childhelp Chief Operating Officer Michael Medoro. “By bringing CTPK to Childhelp, we’re uniting these efforts to create a more comprehensive and effective strategy.”
CTPK was founded by a collaborative partnership of four organizations committed to developing a better solution for community prevention needs; the Center for Violence Prevention Research, Georgia Center for Child Advocacy, Illuminate Colorado, and Protect Our Children. CTPK’s innovative, adult-focused prevention training will emphasize working with communities to design solutions that reflect their unique needs and challenges. CTPK’s founders recognized that combining CTPK with Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe, a youth-focused prevention curriculum, will create a cohesive, complementary system of protection.
With these aligned programs, schools, organizations and communities will have access to:
- Prevention curricula designed for children and adults
- Tailored resources to meet the unique needs of diverse populations
- Comprehensive, integrated solutions that create safer environments for everyone
Whether it’s empowering children with the tools to protect themselves or equipping adults with the knowledge to intervene before abuse occurs, this unified approach aims to ensure that prevention is a priority for communities and kids have access to a strong safety net.
“As we develop CTPK and update Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe to align these two programs, we’re setting a new standard for prevention education. By providing adaptable programs and resources, we’re not just addressing the needs of today — we’re building stronger, safer communities for future generations,” says Childhelp Vice President of Growth and Prevention Dr. Stacy Vaughan.
This partnership is a bold step forward in Childhelp’s mission to protect children and empower families. “Together, with the support of communities across the country, we’re committed to showing that prevention is possible,” Vaughan says.
