A message from our Chapter President, Linda Black
From the first issue of the Atlanta Chapter e-newsletter
Since our inception in June 2006, our chapter has made significant progress toward our goals of establishing the Board of Directors, determining our chapter’s short-term goals, and researching our area’s critical needs for abused children. Sadly, it is clear the need is overwhelming and it will take every person with a heart for children to make an impact in our state. Thankfully, I haven’t met one person yet who TURNS AWAY FROM THE CHILDREN WE LOVE. THESE CHILDREN NEED OUR HELP.
We have a great start on establishing our full Board of Directors (BOD) who we know are skilled and focused on helping abused kids in Georgia. We are grateful for recently elected BOD member Jason Dudley who will use his business skills and experience with Jesse’s House, a girl’s shelter in Forsyth County, to move our grass roots organization to the next level. As we are all wearing many hats at this time, he will help with fundraising ideas and execution, business modeling, and general short-and long-term goal setting.
Priscilla O’Connell is doing an incredible job with Childhelp’s Abuse Prevention Program, Good Touch Bad Touch®, in planning fundraisers and locating schools our chapter can sponsor to get counselors and teachers trained. Priscilla is working to establish a cooperative agreement with The National Charity League to help our efforts.
We are currently planning small holiday fundraisers around our area. You will be receiving email announcements about these events. We pray you will take a short time from your busy holiday schedules to ATTEND AN EVENT TO help a child who has been abused.
