By Derrek Hofrichter - Childhelp Media Dept. - 7/ 7/2009
IHOP of Arizona raises $24,000 for Childhelp;
check presented to charity representatives

WHAT: To coincide with National Child Abuse Prevention Month, IHOP restaurants across Arizona collected donations on behalf of Childhelp during two weeks of April. IHOP guests had the opportunity to purchase $2.00 pledge cards to support Childhelp. In return, donors were given coupons for $2.00 off their next meal at IHOP. All funds raised by IHOP go to Childhelp’s Arizona programs to help local children and their families.

WHY: Nationally, more than four children die each day as a result of child abuse in the home. Last year, approximately 7,000 children went through the children’s advocacy center in Phoenix as a result of situations of child abuse. IHOP supports Childhelp in its mission to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect and to raise public awareness that everyone has the power to help an abused child.

WHO: Representatives from local IHOP restaurants, IHOP corporate staff and Childhelp staff members and volunteers.

In 2009, Childhelp commemorates 50 years of bringing the light of hope and healing into the lives of countless children. CEO and Co-Founder Sara O’Meara and President and Co-Founder Yvonne Fedderson started Childhelp in 1959, establishing it as a leading national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect and at-risk children. Childhelp’s approach focuses on advocacy, prevention, treatment and community outreach.
